Aks....

Another Akshaya tritiya came & its gone & all the jewellers made more money that day than usual.

Thanks to the marketing strategy by some smart jeweller – in the last 2 years it has become a sort of festival like occasion  in most parts of  India ,with more frenzy particularly in the south.I remember during 2003 or 2004 not many of us I am sure would have known what is Akshaya tritiya( !?). Maybe it would have been & it is still an auspicious day as per the Hindu calendar but it was the the Jewellers who seized the opportunity to pick up the lost market in India when the sales of gold was in the recession a few years back. As far as I know it is that both the Sun & moon are on the peak of their brighness. Except that what else- Coz they are shining bright when one buys gold on that day then the entire year that person can become richer & buy gold , is it that way – No chance.

Offers of No making charges , Silver coin , Gold coins , Cars , TV’s ,Flats etc are those attachments that come along with the purchase just to lure the innocent customer. The mind bogling aspect is there are offers of Mercedes Benz & Toyota lexus cars also on the offer.  But there are hardly few people who would really make a comparison between the genuineity of two different shops selling similar product. In an urgency to buy on that day do all of them check the product ?

The stones be it red or green that come along with the gold –are they of  the quality that deserves to be paid that sort of money? Even the gold by itself doesn’t seem to be worth the actual prices that are being sold for. But the fact is that everyone is buying & the media too is busy giving their advertisements to make more money.

By the end of the day any one could see & hear people asking each other – What did you buy ? In fact I had heard people wishing each other Happy Akshaya Tritiya…….!!!!??? Ridiculous.

The situation is ecstatic even in places outside India. I just keep wondering what could it be like in a places like Chennai  or Hyderabad. In my opinion the guy who actually sent out the word a few years ago , that buying gold on this day is auspiciuous should deserve laurels for his understanding of the Indian consumer.

Happy Aks..Tri..

Cheers…!!!
